On December 10th, 2025, during the EfVET\u2019s workshop of the Lifelong Learning Week in Brussels our project was presented. With more than 15 participants from across Europe, the event provided a valuable platform for engaging Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers in the micro-credentials sector, where participants heard from different showcased micro-credentials as a complement that providers tailored training opportunities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

The workshop aimed to address the challenges inherent to the implementation of micro-credentials in VET systems, and to showcase tools that result from specific Erasmus+ projects (aimed at VET providers, teachers, students, professionals and other key stakeholders from different sectors), and that are potential solutions to those challenges.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

During the workshop the participants explored challenges and Erasmus+ tools supporting their implementation in VET.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

EfVET had the opportunity to present MICROIDEA\u2019s progress, results and products.\u00a0 EfVET highlighted that MICROIDEA project came to life with a purpose: after its completion, to have available an innovative micro-credential system linked to ISO 17024. This innovative approach we developed and tested by 5 European countries, and we are having the potential to become mainstreamed improving education and training system as well as the efficacy of policies and practices.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Using the tourism sector as a pilot, MICROIDEA developed an EU-aligned occupational profile for waiters\/waitresses, together with a full curriculum and 24 micro-credential modules covering green, soft, technical, and digital skills. Standalone micro-credentials further allow learners to gain flexible, targeted upskilling without completing an entire qualification.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

With separate certification schemes and internationally recognised procedures, the MICROIDEA approach supports lifelong learning, improves cross-border recognition, and enables partial certifications to accumulate into full qualifications (EQF\/NQF 2\u20135). This represents a scalable model for future workforce development and a significant step toward quality-assured, learner-centred training pathways. As such, MICROIDEA provides a strong foundation for modernising VET systems and equipping the workforce with relevant, high-quality skills in a rapidly changing economy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n
