The conference gathered tourism sector professionals from Cyprus, Greece and Spain as well as experts in the field of microcredentials, labour market and VET.<\/p>\n<p>Our guests presented interesting materials on the characteristics and problems related with tourism sectors in the three counties, as well as microcredentials &#8211;\u00a0 the innovative approach to skills. The key speakers of the conference included:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anastasia Pouliou<\/strong> form CEDEFOP<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annita Demetriadou<\/strong>, Director of Tourism, Deputy Ministry of Tourism, Cyprus<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christiana Lacovidou<\/strong>, General Manager of the Cleopatra Hotel in Nicosia, Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>The conference also included a <strong>Round Table: Aligning Microcredentials for the Tourism Sector<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Six participants took part in the Round Table:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sandor Karacsony, Senior Economist and World Bank Expert,<\/li>\n<li>Vicent Pastor, officer of the General Directorate for VET of the Regional Ministry of Catalonia<\/li>\n<li>Dr Wojciech St\u0119ch\u0142y, expert at the Educational Research Institute in Warsaw (IBE) and assistant proffesor at Warsaw School of Economics,<\/li>\n<li>Xavier Mudarra Pizarro, Technical Teaching Advisor in VET Internationalisation at the Directorate general of Vocational Training of the Generalitat de Cetalunya,<\/li>\n<li>Mr Yannis Tschilis, Corporate Affairs Director of Grecotel Hotels and Resorts \u2013 N. Daskalantonakis Group Greece,<\/li>\n<li>Kari Peistikou, Head of Learning and Development, Institute of Greek Tourism Confederation (INSETE)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The discussion encompassed the following issues: Microcredentials in the context of skills development and employability policies; Means, in which VET, through microcredentials, can address the most urgent skill gaps in the tourism sector in alignment with European standards local needs; How can microcredentials fit in with national and regional strategies; the role of labour market institutions in the development and promotion of microcredentials, especially in tourism; and\u00a0 methods, in which VET providers can cooperate with chambers of tourism in order to ensure that microcredentials meet both educational needs and industry-specific standards.<\/p>\n<p>The conference finished with a questions and answers panel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 10 -11 December 2024 Second Microidea Partners\u2019 Meeting took place in Nicosia, Cyprus followed by the Project Lauch Event on 12th December.
