On 16 December, the Reus Chamber of Commerce in Spain hosted a business event to present the Erasmus+ Microidea project. The event took place at the Chamber’s headquarters and gathered members of the Executive Committee alongside key business representatives from the region.
The meeting aimed to present the scope of the Microidea project, its strategic objectives, and its added value for both the business and training ecosystems. It also created space for direct dialogue with socio-economic stakeholders, ensuring that company perspectives were actively considered.
During the session, the project team explained in detail the methodology used to develop micro-credentials. The discussion focused on their practical orientation, alignment with real company needs, and flexibility as a training solution. Participants were also informed about the current pilot phase of the project, including progress achieved so far and the next planned steps.
The presentation was followed by an open discussion. Many participants expressed strong interest in micro-credentials as an effective tool to bridge the gap between the labour market and education and training systems. This interest was closely linked to current challenges, especially the shortage of qualified personnel. Several stakeholders also suggested extending the micro-credential model beyond the Microidea framework, proposing its application in additional sectors, including industry.
Through this event, the Reus Chamber of Commerce successfully engaged one of Microidea’s key target groups: companies from the local territory. The meeting raised awareness of the project and opened discussions on the future expansion of micro-credentials as a response to evolving labour market needs.
